You are His Mosaic Masterpiece!

I use to think our brokenness disqualified us but now I know that it is the very ingredient God can use to help another hurting heart.

These words flowed out of my heart as I rewrote my testimony for our Rwanda missions trip this summer.

My story took an unexpected turn about five years ago. If I am completely honest, this new path shattered my heart and left me feeling full of shame, wondering if God could still use a divorced woman.  Deep down inside, I felt like I was a failure because my marriage had failed.

In my core, I believed my brokenness had disqualified me. Maybe you feel the same way.

Maybe your circumstances are different. Perhaps a choice from your past is keeping you stuck.  Or maybe it is a current addiction that you cannot break.  Friends, I have some exciting news that will set you free.

God specializes in using broken stories to tell His story!

It took a divine appointment almost 5 years ago for me to see that I may have a broken heart, but I am not a broken vessel and God could still use me.  I want to share that same truth with you.

You may feel broken beyond repair, but in the hands of God, He can take all the broken pieces of your life and create a mosaic masterpiece.

There is something beautiful about light shining through the cracks of a mosaic, through the broken pieces of glass.  I believe this is the same for our lives too.

To illustrate this in my testimony, I share a broken pot, a piece of pottery that has been broken and then glued back together.  Just like this pot, we have all been broken and each one of these cracks represents either a hurt or a pain that we have walked through.

Usually we want to try to hide our cracks and brokenness and act like we have it all together.  Friends, we cannot connect deeply and help someone without being authentic and real. When we vulnerably share about our brokenness, then God can use our story and bring purpose to our pain.

What if our brokenness actually helps us be a stronger light to another hurting heart?

You see when a pot has many cracks and broken places but still shines bright for Jesus despite those circumstances, then that is a beautiful thing.  Friends, my hope is that you will shine brightly for Jesus by giving Him your broken pieces and allow Him to redeem your story and bring purpose to your pain.

I love the quote from Lysa Terkheurst’s book, *It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way, “There’s someone else in the world who would drown in their own tears in not for seeing yours.” It is not our successes but our brokenness that allows us to deeply connect to another hurting heart.

Even though I would have not chosen that path for me, I can see how God is using my hurt and pain to help others.  My prayer is that you will also share your broken story with someone else because your brokenness will empower and change the trajectory of another hurting heart.

Remember You Are His Mosaic Masterpiece!

Thank you for the message of your post. It is exactly what I need as I’m preparing a ladies workshop on brokenness. Instead of using pottery, we will use colorful broken glass to create a mosaic.
We are all broken and can be beautiful mosaics in the hands of the God who loves us!
    Thank you again!

Edith, I love when God gives us exactly what we need to hear! Thank you for sharing about the workshop you are leading. I love that you and the ladies will be making mosaics out of colorful broken glass. It is powerful to do something physically for how you feel emotionally. Praying it is a powerful time as God reminds all of you that He can take your brokenness and turn it into something beautiful. God Bless You, Jodi
