Unshakable Hope!

I was feeling exhausted.

The circumstances of life were weighing me down and robbing my joy.  Have you ever felt this way?

In my heart, I knew that I needed a perspective change.  Maybe you need one too.

Focusing on our problems, we can lose hope.  Focusing on God’s Promises, we can have Unshakable Hope!

Last year, I read Max Lucado’s book called *Unshakable Hope: Building your Lives on the Promises of God.  He asks us to ponder the question, “the circumstances of life or the promises of God, upon which are you standing?”

This is such a good question.  As I honestly reflected, I realized that many times, I focus on my difficult circumstances instead of standing on the promises of God.

Friends, what if we switched our focus?

Instead of letting our problems rob us of our joy, what if we could cling to a truth in the Bible.  A Promise of God.

Let me share with you two of my favorite promises in the Bible:

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

I love this promise! When you are feeling weak and weary, God will renew your strength as you put your hope and trust in Him. This verse is painted on a large sign in my house to remind me daily of this truth.

Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

This verse has been a favorite since college. We are all works in progress and God is continually growing us and refining us into the women of God He wants us to be.

God’s Word is full of promises.  Friends, I encourage you to find one that resonates with you.

When the next unexpected storm comes, we want to be ready and already standing on God’s promises that are unshakable.

Let His truth anchor you, so you don’t drift away.  Let His promises offer you hope in the middle of the storm.

Let me end with this question from Max’s book: “The circumstances of life or the promises of God, upon which are you standing?”

Love, Jodi

Note: Speaking of the Promises of God, you don’t want to miss my conversation with Eva Kubasiak on my Depth Podcast this week. Her passion for God’s Word is contagious, and I know you will love how she remembers the promises of God in her Bible using The Word in Color.  Let’s grab our green pens!
